  • Cemetery Angers Grieving Family

    Eddie D. Gillis|Mar 18, 2021

It is very difficult for a family to bury a loved one. For most families, the pain/grief can be almost unbearable as they prepare to see a loved one for the last time before the Second Coming. That pain/grief can be measured tenfold when a family has to bury a child. Now imagine how a family, especially the parents, would feel when they get to the cemetery to say goodbye, and they can't see their loved one being lowered into the ground, as the final act of closure. Joseph Burks alleged that is...

  • Gone With the Wind

    Mar 18, 2021

It was a sight you might have seen if you were born in the country back in days gone by. Avid hunters understand the game of hunting raccoons(coons), rabbits, squirrels, possums, and many other animals. Long before the grocery store, people hunted for food when there were no grocery stores or money. Dwight Brown was getting a coon ready to eat by skinning and getting the coon prepared to be cooked. This coon was smoked and eaten up quickly. Those devouring it were disappointed with their...

It’s 5:00 in the morning, breath stinking and I’m yawning, but something is on my mind My eyes are all puffy, my nose is all stuffy, proving that even thugs cry. Now, I ain’t gone act a fool, gone still take him to school, and give him money for his lunch Ain’t gone walk out that door, treat you bad no more, or...

  • Rules

    Jessica DeTiege|Mar 18, 2021

Although I do not always agree with all the laws and rules that the government imposes, I understand that in theory the rules are in place to keep us all safe. Difficulty ensues when rules change for individuals who get more lenient punishment when disobeying the rules. A few weeks ago, the governors of Texas and Mississippi made the shocking decision to lift restrictions recommended by the Center for Disease Control. The states’ top leadership announced masks are no longer required when out and about and that businesses can operate like in p...

  • Christian Stewardship

    Dr. Joseph Capers Sr.|Mar 18, 2021

Stewardship is the management of that which belongs to another. We belong to God by redemption. We are not our own. We were bought with a price. God gave himself for us. We are not our own. We have been bought with the greatest price that could have been paid for us. We belong to God. All we have or ever expect to be are His. Our lives and our times are not our own to control and waste. When we withhold things from the service of God, we are robbing God of that which belongs to Him. We are...

God is ever present, all knowing, and all powerful. Amen! He is the same God in the valley as He is on the mountain top. Celebrate and praise the Lord during...

  • Black, Not White Protestors Feared

    Eddie D. Gillis|Mar 18, 2021

Republicans are going out of their way to take the minds of their base away from the events of January 6. Republican leaders and those in the media have all of a sudden stopped talking about the attempted government takeover by people who looked at and followed Donald Trump’s every move. Republicans feel that the less they even remotely mention January 6, the less their base will focus on the event. January 6 is a date that should be mentioned in the same breath as 9/11. However, Republicans don’t even mention 9/11 anymore because there is not...
