High Speed Chase Suspect Eludes Police

Dispatch

High speed police chase ended at the corner of Marx & McGee Streets as the vehicle hit a fence stopping here. The suspect eluded police while investigation continues.

Living in the 21st century has proven to be challenging. Just driving a vehicle - watching for texting drivers, road rage, and drag racing - has become difficult, especially for those 60 and older. While driving, anything can happen at any given time! Not only do drivers need to look out for other drivers, they now should expect and beware of high-speed police chases. Most polices chases once only happened in big cities and on the big screen but are beginning to occur more frequently in Monroe, LA. You may have read of one that happened a few weeks ago and caused a horrible fatality. During such times, drivers can easily be on the road during one and witness the chaos. Vehicles are being stolen every day, and vehicle thieves ride in stolen vehicles until the police chase ends. According to witnesses, a high-speed chase occurred on Friday, July 1, 2022, in the Bryant's Addition neighborhood in south Monroe. The crash happened on Marx St., and police tracked a stolen vehicle where it was wrecked. According to witnesses, the driver escaped, but some juveniles in the car were picked up by their parents and allegedly not charged. The SUV owner had just purchased the vehicle that was stolen a few days after. It is unknown how the vehicle was stolen, if keys were left in the car or if it was running. Drivers beware and alert.
