    Feb 23, 2023

The KitchenCooking Experience Presented Love At First Bite Lovers Hall in Monroe LA on February 14, 2023. Love at first bite has really always been a thing to me. I figured now was the time to bring it to fruition. I saw a need in our community that was nonexistent. We don't have a place of our own where we can sit and dine enjoy OURSELVES and experience nice vibes. I came up with love at first bite just to do that among couples. The love at first bite experience was definitely a chance to get...

    Eddie D. Gillis|Feb 23, 2023

Recent comments by a Monroe City Schools Board member at a Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2023 meeting may have had good intentions, but some did not receive those comments with a warm reception. While in Washington, Willson said he had a great opportunity to lobby Louisiana’s congressional delegation and the state’s superintendent. Willson said the superintendent is expected to visit...

  • Trampoline Minor Injured

    Eddie D. Gillis|Feb 23, 2023

Disclaimer: All persons are innocent until proven guilty. Louisiana has stringent laws on how minors are to be handled by adults. Just as there are laws for physical abuse on adults, the penalty for abuse toward minors who often can't protect themselves carries harsh penalties. In what may have been an attempt to have a good time at a local playspace, it didn't turn out so well for a local man. According to Monroe Police, officers responded to a call at the Altitude Trampoline Park around 2:59...

  • There Are No Negroes in Heaven

    Feb 23, 2023

Now that the curtain is closed on another Black History month and you’ve probably sang or heard “Lift Every Voice”. God created man and woman. God created man in the image and likeness of Him in all different shades and hues. Oppression based on one’s skin tone was created to divide, create hate, and manipulate. The reality for Blacks living in America is one harsh truth that, at any point, many are and will be treated unjustly simply because of their complexion. There are two clauses in the Constitution that point directly and specifi...

  • Biden's Ukraine Trip Boosts Presidency

    Eddie D. Gillis|Feb 23, 2023

President Joe Biden has been flexing his political muscles lately despite the criticism that comes from Republicans no matter what the president does. The so-called scandal following the Chinese balloon and other objects shot down by the military has only given the president a little more pep in his political step because the sightings are now relegated to the “old news” department. Republicans who now control the House have not exactly gotten off to the start that they were bragging about how varying investigations would “expose” the truth a...

  • Our History, Black History: Ebonics and Black Vernacular

    Jessica DeTiege|Feb 23, 2023

There is an adage that states, “You never know where you are going unless you know where you have been.” In the spirit of Black history month, the Monroe Dispatch will highlight stories and the history of Blacks that are not commonly known. • New Age- New problems

    Katima Epting-Wiley|Feb 23, 2023

Leviticus 19:4 Do not turn to idols or make metal gods for yourselves. I am the LORD your God. There is a new age trend, that’s not so new to some. It is a destructive and very controversial trend (as it should be), and it’s growing more each day. Many of our youth are flirting with darkness, and before they can make it to the light, it may be too late. The Word of God instructs us to lead the next generation in the ways of God. We should, of course, because who’s more right or righteous than...
