Monroe Dispatch - No Struggle, No Progress

Dilcie Green began recruiting students to Southern University in 1965. The Maxwell House College Fair came to Detroit, MI every year, and Green would go and assist the staff from SU. Green has recruited over 5000 plus students to SU for over 58 years. She is a SU Football season ticket holder and always arrives in Baton Rouge on Thursdays before the football game to go to the different academic departments and check on students. Green would pick up SU information to take to Detroit area high schools to share with students interested in applying to the SU Honor College. Green would visit the SU campus at least five to six times a year. One of Green's memorable Southern moments was the Fall December 2022 Commencement when 11 Monroe students received degrees. She then began preparing materials from the SU Law Center for the graduates who were interested in attending SU Law School. Dilcie has dedicated her life to Southern University and keeping the pipeline for academic excellence in our area, and we praise God for her!
