Monroe Dispatch - No Struggle, No Progress

Who do some in America turn their attention to when it comes to not wanting to tackle the problems/issues that continue to divide this nation? They turn their attention to those in the LGBTQ community as their scapegoat. By now, most of us have heard about Kid Rock shooting up cases of Bud Light beer because he is unhappy over how some companies are including people in their support for those in the LGBTQ community. Kid Rock is not alone, as some others have done the same thing, all in the name of “liberal wokeness”. Wokeness is a term that is going to be with us for a long time, or at least through the 2024 national elections in the states and in Congress. If FL’s gov. Ron DeSantis runs for president, look for him to wear out the word, “wokeness”. It seems that the only people who are woke, are those who do not subscribe to conservative policies/ideas or ideology. Nevertheless, what does “woke” actually mean as conservatives try to define the term, the definitions that they come up with, make it seem as if they are the ones asleep. To simply define the word in its most oft-used manner, whatever liberals stand for, they will reject. Just because liberals don’t subscribe to their way of thinking, somehow they are “bringing” down America, just like what happened to biblical Sodom when we embrace people who just want to live their lives protected under the Constitution. Has anyone heard of liberals buying any items, then taking them into their backyard and shooting them because of some perceived wokeness? The idea of wanting people to boycott businesses is nothing new, as the “non-woke” crowd should already know. Perhaps if they read history, they will know of the boycotts instituted by Black civil rights marchers doing the sixties. They should do that before all books and teachings are taken out of schools, leaving those against wokeness to put out their own brand of propaganda/indoctrination that they say CRT will do. While liberals will be bashed with being woke, let’s not forget what “cancel culture” and wokeness will do if conservatives don’t jump into the fray and “save” America. So instead of actively protesting in the streets like those who had to fight for their rights, these “patriots” as they like to call themselves, will take up arms and shoot something. Of course, that is their right to own arms and spend their money on products that they say they once enjoyed such as some cans of Bud Light. Now that the makers of Bud Light have aligned themselves with a segment of the population that has been marginalized, it becomes the old “you with us or you’re against us” line in the sand. That’s where the politicians take over, as they go to Fox News and lament that America “is being attacked” and the “average” American’s rights are being taken away. They will say that they are “fighting for the soul of America”. The bad part about all of this is, they want you to join their crusade.

We need to realize that this nation will not fall JUST because of LGBTQ people. There are a lot of sins committed by this nation, which will not be erased by placing them on LGBTQ people. Remember when the makers of Oreos came out with multi-colored crème centers and conservatives went absolutely bonkers? The so-called rainbow colors that identify with LGBTQ people are questioned in their pride flag if displayed in a parade. Somehow the colors in a natural rainbow are never questioned being associated with LGBTQ people. Why? Maybe those against wokeness will start shooting at the next rainbow after the next time it rains. If it’s attention they are seeking, then they got their 15 seconds of fame. It will stay in the news cycle for a little while, as those who enjoy their Bud Light will continue to consume them. The manufacturers may perhaps see an increase in sales, as those who don’t like the alliance with LGBTQ people, will spend their money just to waste it away with bullets. The more conservatives talk about being woke, must mean their message is being lost on more people. Problems are best solved when people make an effort to face them. No one ever solved a problem when they were asleep. As Bonnie Raitt said in her song, “Let’s give them something to talk about”. Stay woke. Remember, the world is watching. So is God.
