Frigid Temperatures were no match for the fire in the hearts of Monroe/Ouachita NAACP members who celebrated its 112th year founding. Rev. Ambrose Douzart, President of the Ouachita Chapter convened a ceremony at his church, New St. John Baptist Church in Monroe LA, on Friday, February 12, 2021. During my interview, he said all the program participants set the perfect stage for his message; from the prayer of Thanksgiving by Rev. Jesse Smith to the passionate greetings from Charles Heckard (state treasurer), to the presence and comments from the ULM NAACP Chapter. Spirits were high!!! Rev. Douzart, whose theme was "The Challenge Continues" reminded and reinforced to all that the ground-breaking work of NAACP must continue, no matter the obstacles. After all, it was founded because of the need to challenge the injustice to humanity, especially Black/African American people. He said we must continue our efforts to meet the challenges through investigation and negotiation. NAACP is a volunteer organization that needs your help. Please become a member or give contributions to help the organization fight for justice for all. The program culminated by a moving benediction by Rev. Tharris Bishop.
