So Much At Stake

September 24, 2020

So much has happened since the founding of the United States of America over 200 years ago. There have been changes that are necessary and inevitable. After all, life – our personal lives and collective lives and experiences that shape our world – is ever-evolving. Change is vital in order to grow and expand the vision our Creator has for us all. Our one responsibility is to be on the positive side of change. To do that, we must work together and implement good that will benefit the entire nation. As much as things have changed, not all that has happened in our country has been honest and just. One major issue Americans need to face is its unjust treatment of its minorities and people of color. Our reality includes years of lynching, brutality and financial disenfranchisement. Sadly, these continue even today. The United States of America wants to be the country that is the world leader but will not honestly hold that title until we all implement the right type of change. We can rectify the country’s wrongs by voting in the interests of what is best for the entire country. The whole country needs adequate and affordable healthcare. The whole country needs a plan to counter global climate change. The whole needs a policing system that does not discriminate. The whole country needs fair and sufficient opportunities for all through education and employment. There is a lot to be done. As we get closer to the nation’s biggest election day, let us all remember what is at stake. Will we go along with one political party, whose agenda is to spread lies and cause segregation? Or will we vote from the party whose intentions are to create fair opportunity for all? Tell your mother, tell your best friends, tell everyone you know. It is time to put up or shut up. The last day to register to vote in Louisiana is October 5 (in-person/mail-in registration) and October 13 (online registration).
