Donald Ray "Meat" "Coach" Sheridan

Farewell Donald Ray "Meat" "Coach" Sheridan has ended his journey and has gone home to be with the Lord. Many knew him as "Meat" later he was known as "Coach"! "Coach" was one of the boys who hung out on the Block on Renwick St. in front of Humphrey's Store also crossing the street hanging out at Murray' s & CC's Barber Shop in Monroe LA, you would find someone hanging out rain, sleet or snow. "Meat" was highly intelligent gaining a master's degree from NLU now ULM and an undergraduate degree from Grambling State University. He also was a Neville Grad who was in the only Carroll High School Class which didn't graduate from Carroll in 1971. Before going to Neville, "Meat" was a ferocious middle linebacker at Carroll standing less than six feet tall but had the heart of the empire state building under the leadership of Legendary Carroll Head Football Coach Dorth Blade. "Meat" had a very gentle temperament but, would rise to the occasion if needed. He went on home to be with the Lord Monday August 31, 2020, while someone came by "Coach's" sister's house looking for him on Tuesday September 1. Donald is the son of the late Ruthie Lee Sheridan. He worked and retired from Monroe City Schools at Jefferson Junior High School. Principal Walter Collins hired him, and they became the best of friends during his tenure. "Coach" also held positions at Green Oaks Detention Center and OIC in Monroe LA. To know "Meat" was like knowing your family, he was that kind of guy. If "Meat" was at the door, he was always welcomed. Preceding Donald "Meat" "Coach" Sheridan in death was his mother, sister Johnnie Lee "Hook" Sheridan, Jimmy Lee "Mock" Sheridan and nephew Terry DeWayne Sheridan. Left to cherish fond memories one sister Ruby Lee Sheridan, brothers Everette and Michael Sheridan and a host of family and friends.
