The Shop Next Door

Visiting New York City is always an exciting adventure for me that births creativity and enlightenment. In the city that never sleeps, there’s always something to see and do that one has never experienced before. When I visit, I often go to the same places, but the each time they’re never the same. On my last trip, I discovered a district completely dedicated to lighting. There were blocks and blocks of nothing but stores that sold lighting fixtures. Some only sold one style, and others sold a variety of styles and sizes. I would imagine some stores even sold the same lighting fixtures as one a few doors down. This street amazed me, and I soon found myself entering one of the shops. An older woman greeted me, and soon we began a conversation about the district. I had questions while she answered them. I left there with a clear understanding that although the stores were in direct competition with one another, they all had businesses that were open in the busiest and largest city in the United States. I left there reminded that there is room for everyone, even if competition is down the street.
