Blackwood Shooting

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A Ouachita Parish man has been arrested after allegedly going to a residence and discharging a weapon. According to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a disturbance call on April 22, 2024, at a residence on Blackwood Dr. in Monroe. Deputies were informed that the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Sincere Johnson, allegedly fired two shots from his weapon before leaving in a black Dodge truck. While enroot to the scene, deputies spotted the suspect's vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, detaining Johnson and the driver.

Deputies were told by the victim that Johnson had come to the residence and threatened her and others by pointing a shotgun at them. The disturbance reportedly stemmed from a child custody matter. Johnson admitted to deputies that he had gone to the residence and an argument had ensued, but he denied pointing or firing a weapon. Deputies recovered a spent shotgun round and a live round where the truck had been seen on video. After being contacted by deputies, Johnson guided them to the location where he had disposed of the gun, which had been altered with a "pistol grip" buttstock and had its barrel sawed off to approximately 14 inches at the breech face. Deputies also found a small bag of marijuana that he claimed was his. Johnson was transported to Ouachita Correctional Center and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Illegal Use of Weapons, Possession or Dealing in Unregistered or Illegally Transferred Weapons, Possession of CDS-1 1st Offense, and Obstruction of Justice.
