Shooting Tragedy

Blacks are losing every time our people are shot and killed by violence. When will we stop this madness that is devastating us and our families, or are we waiting on others to solve our problems, which we see are escalating? We are losing our people, and it doesn't have to be this way! No one in leadership roles has stepped up to fight for us, so we need to fight for ourselves. Don't wait until it's too late; now is the time! A shooting over the weekend on Saturday, April 13, 2024, in Monroe turned tragic for two individuals. The shooting took the lives of two men, and as of press time, there are conflicting stories that can not be confirmed. According to a report from Monroe Police (MPD), officers received a call of a shooting occurring on South 6th St. in Monroe, LA, around 5:25 PM on Saturday, April 13, 2024. When officers arrived at the scene, they located two individuals outside of a residence having suffered gunshot wounds. The two male victims were taken to a local hospital, where, unfortunately, they both succumbed to their wounds. According to Monroe Police, the shooting started after the two males got into an argument with each other.

Both were allegedly armed, producing handguns, and began shooting at one another, sustaining deadly wounds. The victims were Dominic Dickens and Johntae Lee.
