Break-In Shooting

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A local man is in custody, allegedly due to his shoe print. According to the Monroe Police Department (MPD), officers responded to a shooting on Evangeline Street on November 27, 2023, where they engaged in a foot chase with an individual suffering from a gunshot wound. The alleged suspect, identified as Kadorian J. Dougan, was soon apprehended and transported to a local hospital. As officers conducted their investigation at the scene, they learned that the incident occurred at an apartment complex. A search warrant was obtained for the apartment, revealing a kicked-in door frame and a shoe print on the door, matching Dougan's shoes upon further investigation. According to the report, officers observed shell casings inside the apartment. Authorities determined that the person who kicked in the door was the shooting victim. During an interview at the hospital, Dougan allegedly claimed to be in the hallway but visiting someone across the hall. Officers found the apartment across the hall vacant. When asked about kicking the door, Dougan cited the effects of pain medication and was unable to answer. Dougan was taken into custody, where officers allegedly found a mask and gloves in his possession. He was charged with Home Invasion.
