Make the Most of Your Time

November 1, 2023

Of all the age groups I enjoy teaching, high schoolers may be my favorite. High school is a pivotal phase of an educational journey, and it is a time when opportunities for personal growth and self-discovery abound. It's crucial that high school students make the most of their time in high school and to explore different activities and interests. I enjoy not only helping them discover the joy of dance, but also enjoy helping them uncover other passions.

High school is a unique period to explore various subjects, clubs, and extracurricular activities. Trying new things helps discover true passions. Whether it's joining the debate team, participating in art class, or experimenting with a new sport, participating in activities will help teens gain insight into what truly excites and motivates them. Trying different activities also allows them to develop a diverse skill set. These skills, whether they're related to leadership, teamwork, communication, or problem-solving, will be invaluable in future endeavors.

High school is a microcosm of the world, filled with diverse people and opportunities. Engaging in different activities exposes kids to various cultures, perspectives, and backgrounds, broadening horizons and fostering empathy and understanding. Colleges and employers appreciate well-rounded individuals. By trying different things, students can build a robust resume that showcases versatility, adaptability, and commitment to personal growth.

Whenever I can I remind my high school aged dancers that high school is a time to create lifelong memories. Trying different things leads to exciting and memorable experiences, forming the basis of stories you'll cherish for years to come. High school is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for self-discovery, skill development, and personal growth. Embrace the variety of activities available to you, and make the most of your time in high school to prepare for a brighter and more fulfilling future.
