At Grambling State University's homecoming football game on Saturday, October 14, 2023, two former Grambling former quarterbacks were honored. The football field at Eddie G. Robinson Stadium was named Harris-Williams Field in honor of former GSU athletes James "Shack" Harris and Doug Williams. Standout quarterback James " Shack" Harris starred at Carroll High School, Grambling, and the NFL as the first Black quarterback to start in a National Football League game. Doug Williams was a standout quarterback for Grambling and was the first Black quarterback to win a Superbowl championship. Both...
