Fatal Shooting

Shooting plagues continue to claim the lives of people of color and others. An alleged shooting happened recently when people riding on highways heard shots fired near a Circle K gas station in Jonesboro, La. When deputies arrived, they found Bre'unte Hicks, 26, had been shot. He was transported to a hospital by the parish ambulance service, where he died from his injuries. Acting upon information received, the Sheriff's Department issued a warrant for the arrest of a suspect identified as 19-year-old Terrion S. Adkins. As of press time, Adkins has not been taken into custody as officers continue the search for him. Adkins is wanted for Second-degree Murder. Though the homicide happened within the limits of Jonesboro, the city's police department requested that the Jackson Parish Sheriff's Department handle the case. Law enforcement officials ask that anyone with information contact them at (318) 529-9021 or Crimestoppers at (318) 488-CASH.
