Sommer Powell, 39, was born March 5, 1984, to Billy Ray Mathias and the late Vanessa Powell. She could make anyone smile in her presence. At age eight, Sommer was placed under the wings of her dearly beloved grandmother, Betty Jean Powell, who reared her. Sommer attended Berg Jones Lane Elementary and Richwood High School.
