Monroe Dispatch - No Struggle, No Progress

William Riley Jr. (Pappy) departed this life on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at St Francis Medical Center. He was an entrepreneur and business owner of Wonderland Childcare and Development Center in Monroe, LA. William was a Carroll High School 1961 graduate. There William was an active student; he played football and participated in many activities with his class. He became a valued alumni committee member over the years for his help and commitment. He met and married his high school sweetheart, Ruthie M Hutchinson, the love of his life. They were married for 61 wonderful years until his death. Three children were born to this marriage - Philander, Rushondria, and Tamara (deceased); seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceding William in death were his father, William C Riley, Sr., mother, Marteal R. Riley, brother, Herbert Riley, daughter, Tamara Riley, and grandson, Brandon Gordon. William will truly be missed by his family, friends, and community. The family thanks all for the prayers, phone calls, and contributions - "May God bless and keep them always". Special thanks are extended to the Carroll High School class of 1961, as they stood by him through illness and in life. Funeral services will be announced from the funeral home.
