Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. On July 17, 2023, Monroe Police responded to a disturbance that started at a home on South 9th St. When officers arrived, the victim advised that she was at the address to visit her brother, and that was when her ex-boyfriend arrived at the residence. According to MPD, the victim said that the individual, later identified as Johnathan Williams, allegedly shattered her back windshield with a metal pipe and approached her with a Glock handgun. According to police, Williams struck the victim one more time with a closed fist on the left side of her face and stated several times that he was going to kill her. The victim said she was overcome with fear for her life and attempted to leave the scene in her vehicle. The victim said that Williams allegedly blocked her in the yard with his vehicle, preventing her from leaving while continuing to threaten to kill her while pointing the firearm toward her. The suspect allegedly left the residence as an attempt was made to conduct a traffic stop on Williams at Gilbert and Desiard St., where lights and sirens were activated. MPD said that Williams did not stop and continued on Desiard, where officers began a pursuit after him, which ended at his residence, 411 Lincoln Road. Officers said that a foot chase ensued after Williams exited the vehicle that ended at a nearby residence. During the foot chase, Williams allegedly threw a handgun away that was later retrieved. Williams was read his rights, as officers would be advised by dispatch that Williams was a convicted felon and had an active protective order, which both prevented him from carrying a firearm. Williams was arrested and taken to Ouachita Correctional Center(OCC) on charges of Simple Criminal Damage to Property, Domestic Abuse battery, False Imprisonment, Offender Armed with Dangerous Weapon, Flight from an Officer-Aggravated Flight-Felony, Obstruction of Justice, Possession of a Firearm or Carrying of a concealed Weapon by a person convicted of Domestic Abuse, and Violation of Protective Order.
