Tragedy struck a Monroe neighborhood, as Monroe Police report that a 16-year-old youth is dead following a shooting. Homicide is the third leading cause of death for those between ages 12 and 17, behind accidents and suicide, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Homicide is now the leading cause of death among African American youth. MPD said the shooting happened around 4:16 PM on South McGuire Street in Monroe, LA.
