The Alexandria Police Department is facing a federal lawsuit stemming from an incident where a Black woman died while in custody after two Alexandria police officers arrested her. The lawsuit was filed by the mother of Rose Marie Taylor, who was in the Rapides Parish Detention Center No. 1 on May 19, 2022, when she was found unresponsive in her cell, two days after she was arrested by Alexandria police officers Brian and Matthew Frost.
