The Pit

Genesis 50:20 As for you, what you intended against me for evil, God intended for good, in order to accomplish a day like this—to preserve the lives of many people.

We talk about the palace in the story of Joseph, but not enough about how the “pit” can be the stop before the transportation, to the destination. Joseph’s brothers threw him in a pit and left him there. They went off, and after conversation and deliberation, one brother (Reuben) came back, but Joseph was no longer there. He had to tell that to the rest of his brothers. The next time they saw Joseph, he was in a palace. Joseph was not just in the palace; he governed the palace. He was so blessed that he was unrecognizable to his own brothers. They were in bad shape, and he was the one years later, that they were at the mercy of. Isn’t life amazingly unpredictable? People, I adjure you to be careful how you treat others. Be careful who you throw away, because everybody’s not replaceable. Be careful who you throw in the “pit”. You may come back and realize that person is no longer there. The next time you see him/her, that person may very well be in the “palace”, and you just may be at his/her mercy. God is love; so, love!
