After The Indictment

Former president Donald John Trump is expected or will be indicted in a Manhattan courtroom this/past Tuesday, April 4, 2023. There were so many people in this nation and perhaps around the world probably thinking that Trump would never be indicted. After all, how many individuals do you know of who can tie up the legal system as well as Trump has done? Trump has had many legal issues that he has dealt with over his life, having many high-paid lawyers cut deals that could otherwise have him facing some jail time. As we have seen so often, prosecutors in New York have let Trump get away with a fine. However, Tuesday, April 4 is so much different this time. Trump’s arraignment will go in the history books as the first man to have served in the White House to be criminally charged in relation to his allegedly paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels through his former “fixer’ attorney Michael Cohen. The nation is divided between liberals/conservatives, right versus left, and somewhere in the middle is the truth. The heavy presence of law enforcement was a precaution against potential violence, but one would have been born on the moon, thinking that law enforcement anywhere wouldn’t have been prepared for violence after seeing what happened at the Capitol on Jan. 6. It’s ironic that Trump isn’t facing any responsibility for being the main cheerleader that encouraged those supporters of his to storm the Capitol, but for an alleged discreet affair that other politicians(Republicans/ Democrats) themselves have been caught. Why is it that conservatives seem to believe that it is under the dignity of what this nation says it stands for, that is truth and justice, except when it comes to our leaders, particularly those in Washington? Why is it that the person that occupies the White House is somehow seen as a leader who “can do no wrong”? Well, it depends on who is sitting in the White House. Former president Bill Clinton was involved in a sex scandal, as Republicans wanted him removed from office through an impeachment trial. The nation survived that ordeal. Richard Nixon resigned from office as president and so did his vice president Spiro Agnew. Again, the nation and the world survived. Now, we are being led to believe that if Donald Trump goes to trial, the nation will fall apart. Conservative media speaks of the unprecedented nature of a former, not a sitting president, who has no executive power at his disposal, taking the nation through “uncharted waters”. Instead of going further into those uncharted waters (testing the Constitution), Republicans would rather nothing be done. That is until a Democrat may find him/herself in a predicament similar to Trump. One has to wonder how that might play out. Just think if Barack Hussein Obama were facing an indictment. The sun did rise/shine Wednesday morning in Manhattan and elsewhere in the world. People are going about their daily routine. Other court cases are being tried. Lawyers for Donald Trump will simultaneously go on Fox News and bemoan how they will defend their client and play out their case in the court of public opinion. While we are talking about lawyers, DA Alvin Bragg deserves a tremendous amount of courage for bringing Mr. Trump to court. He knows that the safety of his family and staff is a big focus of law enforcement, leading to those who will ask why Trump’s lawyers will not call for calm as the criminal procedure plays out. Where will Republicans be knowing that there have been threats already made against Bragg? However, the fact remains that Donald Trump is where he is, facing a trial because of his own actions. No one else. Trump and only Trump is being charged. Michael Cohen paid his dues. Even more so, this will be a ”black eye” that no matter how dark the sunshades are, this will be one moment in history that this nation will not be able to whitewash as if it never happened. Donald Trump says that he will run for president even if he is indicted. Imagine how America will look before the world, as it is believed that Trump can run for president, even if he winds up in jail. It will show that if the Constitution “is the law of the land”, then those men who wrote those words meant that every man is subject to the law. Yes, even rich men like them. Trump is rich. We shall see. Remember, the world is watching. So is God.
