Shootout

Sources tell the Monroe Dispatch that a shootout allegedly occurred on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 on Cagle Dr. in Monroe, LA. According to sources, gunplay happens all the time and is so frequent that some residents are fearful yet immune to the activities. As one source put it, shootouts constantly occur in this community when individuals pull guns and begin firing at one another without regard to others. During the Wednesday shootout, an innocent bystander was shot in the chest by an errant bullet. The female minor was a victim of circumstances where numerous shots were fired. Monroe Police were called and are investigating, but no arrests have been made. Since this latest shootout, Monroe Police have brought a police Spyder which monitors activities when crimes become overwhelming in certain areas. Luckily the minor survived the shooting, and her injuries were not fatal. Our Black communities are in dire need of some type of intervention to help solve the shooting violence in the Black community. Our young people are crying out for help, while there are only two outcomes, death or prison. There is a B.A.L.M. in Monroe, a spiritual solution to a social problem. A B.A.L.M. in Monroe is a collaborative plan that every citizen, elected and appointed official, clergyman, and organization can participate in to help improve the image of Monroe while inspiring at-risk males to take more responsibility for their actions and respect the lives of others. A balanced approach to lower the violent crime and murder rate in Monroe, LA. Praise God for law enforcement!
