Reflections on Womens History in the Arts

Painting with Watercolors!

March 15, 2023

Watercolor painting is the process of painting with pigments that are mixed with water. Of all the painting processes, watercolor painting is known for its inherent delicacy and subtlety because watercolor art is all about thin washes and transparent color (though watercolors can be made opaque with the addition of Chinese white). A watercolorist uses watercolor painting techniques like washes, working wet in wet and wet on dry, lifting out and masking out for highlights, and dozens of other techniques to achieve textural effects. Most of all, watercolor painting comes back to the premise that the watercolor lessons and methods matter. The presenter is Alyssa Guidry, Curator of Education and Public Programs at the Masur Museum at Carver-McDonald Branch Library, 2941 Renwick St. Monroe, LA, on Thursday, March 16, 2023, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
