Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The old saying, "let bygones be bygones" could be seen as applied wisdom in the face of situations where it is better to think with your head and not your heart. The heart is our passionate center of us. When there is something that we want to do or say, and that's in one's heart, we often act before clearly thinking things through. And it's in moments like that we have to face the consequences of our actions. According to a police report from the West Monroe Police Department, on Monday, March 13, 2023, an officer was dispatched to South 6th Street and Browning regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with the victim, who told the officer that she was walking with her boyfriend when her ex-boyfriend pulled up in his vehicle next to them. The victim said that the boyfriend and ex-boyfriend began to fight in the road. The victim then stated that she attempted to break them up, and the mother of the ex-boyfriend, later identified as Shemikah D. Hill got a long knife out of her car and ran toward them. The victim stated that she thought that Hill was going to stab her and her boyfriend. The victim stated that Hill dropped the knife and punched her. The victim said that they began to fight, but shortly after, they split up. According to the report, the victim then stated that she and her boyfriend began to walk away down the street when Hill got into her car, drove up next to her, and said, "I'm not done with you."

The victim also said that Hill sprayed her with pepper spray and drove away, fleeing the scene. The officer was able to talk to a witness who stated that she saw Hill walk toward the victim and her boyfriend with a large knife in a threatening manner. The witness also said the victim and her boyfriend had walked down the street, but Hill drove up to her and pepper sprayed her, and left. Police found Hill on Austin Ave and read her Rights. She did admit to pepper-spraying the victim and having the knife but stated that she was punched first. Hill was handcuffed and transported to (OCC) Ouachita Correctional Center. Hill is charged with Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, and Simple Battery. There are three sides to every story. This was one side of this story. The Monroe Dispatch welcomes another or the other side of this story.
