Emily LaNell Rush Winston (68), of Monroe, LA, transitioned to her heavenly home February 24, 2023, after a brief illness, resulting from an automobile accident. Affectionately known as Nell, she was a faithful servant in the Kingdom of God. She devoted her life to service as an advocate for residents of nursing homes, assisted living facilities as well as an advocate for the Council on Aging serving twelve (12) Parishes in Region 8 as both Ombudsman and Council Coordinator. She worked for Governor's Office of Elderly Affairs under North Delta Regional Planning District and Development for over 30 years. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband Don; son, Tarian; brother, W. L. Rush; sister, Barbara (Larry) Rush Doyle; a special cousin, Sonya Rush; grand-daughter, Jazmin Winston; grand-son, Tarian Winston, Jr.; god-son, Antoine Johnson, Jr.; god-daughter, Lakeidre Baker; a beloved uncle, Golia Gaines; nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Union Baptist Church 4314 Hwy 165S. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Services entrusted to Miller Funeral Home.
