Open Door Battering

Disclaimer: All persons are innocent until proven guilty. Friendship is a precious commodity worth more than its weight in gold. Friendship can be earned from just one meeting or over a period of time. In any form, friendship should come with a level of trust in one another that makes the relationship worthwhile. A Monroe woman may have thought that she had that in a male acquaintance, only to find out that she was betrayed. The unidentified southside resident was at home when there was a knock on her door. According to Monroe Police, on Sunday, January 29, 2023, the woman opened her door because the individual that allegedly knocked was 25-year-old Jonathan Dade, someone she knew. To the woman's surprise, another individual identified as Mytasity Mathis accompanied Dade. MPD said that Dade moved aside, allowing Mathis to enter, with both individuals allegedly grabbing the victim and taking her outside. Once the victim was outside, MPD said both individuals battered her. Officers responded to the southside residence, where they made contact with the victim as she told them what had happened to her. The victim told officers that she "trusted" Dade and that he "knew" that she would open the door for him. The victim told officers she believed Dade was involved in planning the attack that led to the two suspects battering her. It all started with the victim opening the door for someone she knew and trusted. Officers apprehended Dade and Mathis and were taken to Monroe Police headquarters for questioning. After being questioned, the pair was transported to (OCC) Ouachita Correctional Center for booking.
Dade was charged with Criminal Conspiracy and Violation of a Protective Order. Mathis received charges of Home Invasion and Criminal Conspiracy.
