Hershell West was born on July 8, 1941 to the late Horace West and Emmaline C. Brice in Rayville, LA. West departed this life on Saturday, January 28, 2023. He grew up in Rayville, receiving his elementary and secondary education. West was a math whiz, an exemplary student, and a phenomenal basketball player.
