Politics And A funeral

January 26, 2023

By now most of you may have heard of the passing of Ineitha Lynette “Diamond” Hardaway, one-half of the Black sister duo, who rose to fame with Herneitha Rochelle “Silk” Richardson, as ardent and fervent supporters of ex-president Donald Trump. “Diamond” as she was called, along with “Silk” became a 1-2 political punch for Trump during his first campaign and become a familiar face in conservative media, appearing at rallies among conservatives. Hardaway passed away a week ago and was funeralized Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023 with Donald Trump being one of the attendees. Hardaway’s death came as a shock to family members, according to media reports, saying that her death “was sudden” with an implication that something “was wrong” in how she; just died. Diamond and Silk may have been seen as part of a wave of Black conservatives coming over to the Republican Party, as during Trump’s campaign and four years in office, Trump would often brag about “how much” Black support he had. The Black wave hasn’t enveloped the Republican party just yet. All one has to do is watch any rally or take a look at Republican representation in Congress on Capitol Hill and one will notice the absence of many Black faces. Diamond along with Silk repeated conservative talking points at Democrats including President Joe Biden and on some occasions, would be critical of conservatives. But it was their unwavering support of Trump that kept them in the limelight, as Trump called her a “fantastic” woman at her funeral. The event called a “celebration” of life drew some famous conservatives such as former Trump cabinet member Ben Carson, the “My Pillow Guy” Mike Lindell, and Mark Burns, a conservative Black pastor who has defended Trump on numerous occasions as being “God sent”. There were many good things said about Diamond, but it soon turned political, especially when it came time for Trump to speak. Trump, apparently is not a fan of attending Black funerals, as the celebration lasted 3+ hours, with Trump thinking that the event would have been over in less than a half hour. Standing at the podium to chants of “USA”, Trump said kind words about Diamond that soon took on the tone of a political rally. Trump, in defense of Diamond’s views, said that “We’re dealing with a vicious group of people. They are Marxists, they are communists”, in a reference to his political enemies. Trump also lamented about inflation and gas prices as if he was trying to score political points, which isn’t unusual for the ex-president wherever he speaks. In a “Joe Biden” moment that conservatives like to label the president when he misspeaks, Trump said that he knew Diamond, but “didn’t know” Silk, which really is strange, because it had always been “Diamond AND Silk”, as everyone in conservative and even liberal circles knew of the duo. Yet, Trump likes to refer to Biden as being not physically/mentally to be in the White House. But, it was Silk’s reference to how her sister died that may have sounded strange to some as she described her sister’s final moments. Silk said that “something wasn’t right” leading up to the moment when a call to 911 was made. Diamond’s sudden death needs to be “investigated”, as people should pay attention without providing specifics, Though the cause of Diamond’s death wasn’t revealed, it was believed that she died of COVID complications. “Why are people dying suddenly?”, she asked. Probably because it was her time. One thing that is mentioned at funerals, is that a person who dies, no matter the years, lived a full life according to God’s will. Somewhere, a person dies every second of the day, because we live from one second to the next. Death is sudden as one second a person is breathing, and the next second, breathing stops. This reporting can recall a co-worker suddenly dying on the job. In another instance, as a teen attending a church service, a deacon was called on to pray and in the middle of his prayer, he suddenly fell back and died in the church. No investigations were done. Some conservatives are pushing the notion that COVID vaccines are a part of some vast conspiracy by the government. But Silk and others should be reminded that their “hero”, was at first against vaccines until it started to save lives. Not only did he want to take credit for the vaccines being developed “at warp speed”(he should), but he and his family have been vaccinated. We all have an appointment with death, sooner or later. There is no such thing as “unexpected”. We just don’t know the second, but it is EXPECTED to happen. Keep the politics out. Remember the world is watching. So is God.
