Don't Expect Big Things To Happen

January 19, 2023

If most Americans think that Republicans in Washington D.C. are going to bring a wave of prosperity to the nation because they are in charge of the House, they are sadly mistaken. As long as the nation is divided along every line that one can think, that being racial, political, cultural, or economic, don’t expect anything of substance to be done. I would love to be wrong, but this nation “crossed the line of separation” a long time ago, as there are those who are making sure that this nation never becomes “united” if it ever was. Democrats may control the White House and the Senate which doesn’t guarantee that President Joe Biden will have a successful two years heading into 2024, as it will take some Republicans in the House to abandon conservative legislation sponsored by Kevin McCarthy and company and join Democratic House members who try to advance any policies that Biden may try to get pass Congress. It may be easier in the Senate where Dems have control, but one can’t rule out Mitch McConnell using every trick in the book to derail Biden’s policies. If Republicans in Congress keep their promise to open up investigations into anything having to do with anyone named “Biden” and also try to peel off incriminating findings from the Jan. 6, 2021 committee hearings, there won’t be time left over to address the serious issues still facing the nation. After all, how can two move forward, unless they agree? “Compromise” is still a dirty word among Republicans in Washington and in state legislatures across the nation, as it will be the voters that need issues settled for their benefit. We have seen just from the recent effort among Republicans to elect the House Speaker from their ranks how divided they are. It took 15 ballot tries before Kevin McCarthy got his dream job and a lot of embarrassment from a party that couldn’t find a compromise between themselves. It was called “making deals” or “concessions” mostly on McCarthy’s part, but the news media didn’t mention a compromise had been made by Republicans.

That leads to the question of them compromising with Democrats on anything that will help Biden if he decides to run in 2024. Republicans, if the polls are correct, are supposed to lean away from ex-president Donald Trump looking ahead to 2024. But Republicans also know that if no one can take the mantle away from Trump while it is still early and looks to be winnable in 2024, they will have no choice but to support Trump just like they knew that they would ride out the next two years with McCarthy. But in the meantime, don’t be surprised if certain Republicans won’t look for the first opportunity early on in McCarthy’s leadership reign to remove him and install someone that is farther to the right. Give Republicans credit, they know their voters and that not all of them will abandon Donald Trump. The issues such as immigration, the economy, crime, and debt, it seems will always be with us. As long as the compromise word remains forbidden in any kind of negotiation between the political parties, the line that divides this nation will get wider.

President Biden is facing some questions regarding sensitive documents found in his possession that he says he was unaware of, even though they were immediately turned in, that is the stuff that Republicans were hoping . Now, they have a reason to abandon any pretense of resolving issues that affect voters and concentrate on Joe Biden as being more corrupt than Trump. They won’t use the word “corrupt” if referring to Trump in the same sentence unless they say that Trump didn’t do anything that was corrupt. They will use these revelations to open up investigations into both President Biden and his son, Hunter. Bi-partisanship will no longer exist, as there will be no incentive to address the nation’s problems, as long as people are convinced that there is a “corrupt” leader in the White House. Don’t be surprised if some Republicans use this incident to further their claims that Biden is an illegitimate president and that the election “was stolen”. Donald Trump, no doubt is probably waiting for the “precise” moment to attack Biden with rallies and tweets. In the meantime, Republicans get exactly what they wanted. And the voters are left holding the shaft. Don’t expect big things to happen over the next two years. Remember, the world is watching. So is God.
