Henry P. Johnson, Sr. was born August 23, 1937 in Monroe, LA. He was the 5th child of proud parents Nelson Johnson Sr. and Estella Carter. Both his parents and six siblings preceded him in death. Gobie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Antioch Baptist Church in Monroe, LA. He was a proud Carroll High School class of 1957 graduate, where he was a ferocious athlete for the mighty Bulldogs. Gobie married his childhood sweetheart, Carolyn Sue Coleman Johnson.
