Monroe Dispatch - No Struggle, No Progress

The city of Monroe, LA is planning to redistrict the city council districts throughout the city. With a city with a Black majority, the redistricting of the maps is vital to fairer and equitable voting on the city council. As it stands, the current proposed redistricting maps exhibit that Blacks will lose the city council majority and return the city to be controlled by those in the minority rather than those in the majority. With the emergence of a crafty downtown plan and "redistricting" efforts, it only takes one Black vote to shift the city to minority control. Who will make the vote to make the minority the majority? It won’t be long before we know.
