Alice Ruth Gates Riser was born March 4, 1945, in Clarksdale, MS to Finis Gates, Sr. and Vertie Louise Brown Gates. She passed from this life on October 27, 2002 in Monroe, LA, after an extended illness. Alice was an active and devoted member of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Grayson, LA before her health prevented her from attending. She served in many roles in her life, but the roles of a loving daughter, sister, devoted wife, mother, and adoring grandmother were the most important.
