Fred Decatur was cool, calm, and debonair. While growing up and living in Monroe, LA, Decatur was an outstanding student and athlete at Carroll High School, 1953 - 1956. He played on the first Carroll High School State Championship football team in 1953. He was a stellar baseball player and served as co-captain in 1956. Decatur graduated from Carroll in 1956.
