One of Monroe's oldest communities became tighter and celebrated its Newtown Reunion on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the Jazz Club on Washington St. in Monroe, LA. It was a special celebration, reminiscing those years living in the Newtown Projects, never forgetting whence they came. At the Newtown Reunion, former residents enjoyed fried fish courtesy of Newtown legend Bay Willis, fellowship, and fun. Many were in attendance, including Newtown legends Jackie Hamilton, Otis Jones, Bay Willis, Greg King, JoAnn Benton, Edward Richards, Clarence Sharp, and many others.
