Clara Dean Mathis Hall

Clara Dean Mathis Hall was born September 24, 1946, to the late Ella D. Mathis in Extension, LA. She was the youngest of four siblings. Her mother, sister (Tena Singleton) and nephew (Thomas Lemle) preceded her in death. She answered God's call to transition to her heavenly home on Friday, October 28, 2022, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA. Clara spent her growing up years in Franklin Parish. However, she was a 1964 graduate of Carroll High School in Monroe, LA. She later graduated from Delta Community College and received a degree in nursing. She was employed by Ochsner LSU Health (formerly E A Conway Hospital) for many years. After her retirement, she worked at various nursing homes. She served over 30 years in the nursing field. Clara was a faithful Christian (always unselfishly giving of her time, talent and finances, not wanting any repayment, to enhance God's kingdom). In Franklin Parish, she was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. T. White. After moving to Monroe, LA, she united with Rose of Sharon Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend J. B. Brown. She remained a dedicated member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church until her illness. She served the church as: a choir member, finance secretary, church clerk, and a dedicated member of the Sunday School. She also coordinated the feeding programs. As a servant of God, Clara volunteered to serve others in the community at Granny Goins Soup Kitchen and at the detention center. Clara also worked the voting polls during elections. Clara's precious memories will linger on in the hearts of her sister, Arlean Lemle (Wisner, LA), her brother, Robert Singleton (Seattle, WA), her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation is Friday, November 4, 2022, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 907 Winnsboro Road, Monroe, LA. A "Celebration of Life Service" will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, 716 Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive, Monroe, LA.
