Monroe Dispatch - No Struggle, No Progress

Carver Elementary School in Monroe LA. 6th grade student Chance Washington was selected to participate in the 2022 All-State Children's Honor Choir in conjunction with the 2022 Fall Vocal Music Conference of the Louisiana American Choral Directors Association held October 27-29, 2022 in New Orleans, LA. The children's honor choir consisted of 4th-6th grade students and the guest conductor was Ms. Emily Ellsworth, a nationally recognized leader in the field of youth chorus directors. The concert was performed Saturday, October 29, 2022 in Metairie, LA at Celebration Church; the choir presented six selections in English, Latin, German, and Irish/Gaelic. Chance is the son of Cassandra Washington, and the grandson of Dewayne and Tacoma Washington Dupree. He is a member of Greater Flowery Mount Baptist Church in Monroe, LA led by Dr. Sam Moore, III.
