Disclaimer: All Persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A domestic altercation between three individuals turned deadly when a male individual was shot and killed in a north Monroe neighborhood. According to a press release from the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, in the early morning hours of October 20, 2022, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Dillingham Dr. in response to a domestic incident involving a shooting. When the deputies arrived at the scene, they found a male subject deceased as a result of gunfire. The deceased subject was identified as 31-year-old Kenneth Heckard of Monroe, LA. An investigation revealed that Heckard was previously arrested by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office on Monday, October 17, 2022 and was charged with Domestic Abuse Battery, 2nd offense, regarding an altercation with his wife on that date. On the night of October 19, 2022, Heckard bonded from the Ouachita Correctional Center(OCC) after posting a bond on the Domestic Abuse Battery, 2nd Offense charge. Ouachita Parish Sheriff's office says that shortly after midnight on October 20, 2022, Heckard was involved in a domestic altercation with his wife and her 19-year-old son. During this altercation, a gun was introduced, and Heckard was shot and died at the scene from his injuries. The 19-year-old was identified as a suspect and was later arrested and charged with Obstruction of Justice. As of press time, the case was still under investigation. Our prayers are with this family as they work to move past this horrific ordeal.
