Shootings Unnecessary Grief

Vincent Neal

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Another individual has lost his life to violence, and the community continues to seek answers in hopes of stopping the violence. One always hopes that differences, no matter what they are, can be settled where all involved will live. Sometimes, it doesn't happen that way. And the question is always, why? A man has been arrested for a fatal shooting on Thelma St. in Richwood on Sunday, September 18, 2022. The victim was identified as Vincent Neal. The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's office announced on Monday, September 19, that they had arrested the alleged gunman, identified as Danterrius Holmes. According to reports, Parish deputies responded to the shooting around 4:00 AM. They arrived to find the victim who had been shot, deceased from his wounds. At that time, the only information available to deputies was that the alleged suspect might have been driving a dark-colored Jeep or SUV. Holmes was taken into custody and was charged with Second Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Two families' lives have changed forever. Both will suffer pain. The consequences of actions should be considered first and not last. Black males are dying at an alarming rate from gun violence inflicted by other Black males. This was another senseless murder that will affect us all. Please stop the violence! One of the Ten Commandments is "Thy Shalt not Kill"!
