Deborah Smith Monroe City School Board Candidate

My name is Deborah Smith. I am a dedicated educator for over 25 years. I am the mother of 4 children. I am the 2nd of three generations of Carroll High School graduates. I have resided in the Booker T Addition for over 60 years. Being a single mother made me choose what kind of life that I wanted for my children. I knew that education was key to them achieving success as well as well as being productive thriving citizens. Being poor never stopped me from advocating for a quality education for all students. The guidance counselors knew me by my name. I chose what kind of classes they needed to have to go to that next level in life, which was college. I never let anyone decide what was best for my children. Because of my determination, I have a lawyer, a Nurse Practitioner, a coach, and an entrepreneur.

I am running for the office of Monroe City School Board Member because we need a POSITIVE Change for the children of District 4. I personally have seen the inadequacies that District 4 has compared to other schools in the school system. This is an injustice that cannot continue to go overlooked.

I am concerned that the students of District 4 have not been given the tools to navigate their lives in the real world. I will Speak up & Speak out and become their advocate for a quality education. I am the change that is needed in District 4. Vote Deborah Smith Monroe City School Board #74!
