Monroe Dispatch - No Struggle, No Progress

Jessie Lee Tillman, 84, was born in Clayton, LA on July 25, 1938. She entered Heaven's gates on August 23, 2022. Jessie Lee Tillman was employed with Glenwood Regional Medical Center for 38 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Minister Tillman was a soldier in the army of the Lord on this earth for 50 years. She quietly slipped away into God's presence, where she is now walking around heaven all day. Minister Tillman had an unwavering faith in God and taught her children and grandchildren how to have that same faith in God. She helped raise seven stepchildren. Tillman led a street ministry with her six children and taught bible classes in her home. She and her children also sang in local churches and traveled with the pastors. Tillman was a faithful member and mother of Walk in the Word Kingdom Church in Monroe, LA, for 17 years under the leadership of Bishop Danny and Dr. Carolyn Hunt. Over the years, she sang in the choir, led souls to Christ, was a Sunday School Teacher in Hour of Power, served in the Pastoral Ministry, was a Prayer Warrior for the pastors, prayed on the weekly phone line, served with the Helping Hands Ministry where she took goodie bags to local hospitals, served in the nursing home ministry, and was a student at the Word School of Ministry. She was the fourth child of eleven siblings. Her memories will be cherished and loved by her two daughters - Phantashia Dawkins of Houston, TX, and Minister Loria Hudson (Audrey) of Monroe, LA; three sons - Danny Straughton of Oakland, CA; Minister Percy Tillman Sr. (Claudia), and Michael Tillman, both of Monroe, LA; honorary daughter - Dr. Carolyn Hunt (Danny) of Monroe, LA; one brother - Bobby Venson Davis (Marsha) of Columbus, GA; and five sisters - Stella Mae Irvin, Gloria Dean Bell, and Mary Jean Dickey, of Houston TX, Irene Thomas (Anthony) of Richmond, CA, and Shirley Davis of Monroe, LA. She was loved and admired by her grandchildren with whom she spent her last days. She had 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Minister Jessie Lee Tillman greatly loved her great-great-grandchild, Ayla Collins. She loved all her nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, friends, and all her Walk in the Word Church family. She had a compassionate heart for souls and prayed they would accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Walk in the Word Church, 1201 Stubbs Ave. in Monroe, LA.
