No Struggle, No Progress

Can We Talk?

Communication: This seems to be a serious problem for the citizens of the city of Monroe, with no communication from the local government.

"It's like they have become movie stars," says one resident. "Once they get in office after they have gone out in the community to gain our trust so that they can win our votes, we don't see or hear from them unless they are trying to push an agenda. It isn't right! Our community centers are in disarray. There are no programs to keep the children, young adults, or mature audience engaged. There is a new team for parks and recreation, but what have they done for the community centers or people in the last two years? This is a never-ending cycle of suspect leadership. We need our community centers to be all they can be so the people can have a place to go and learn, have fun, and be safe. That's why you see the majority of the shootings come from youth who have nothing to do." Most residents of a certain age range know that the old saying, "an idle mind is the devil's workshop," is very true. People are becoming more aware of those they place in high seats, and now the realization of how important it is to vote like our lives depends on it. After all, could you imagine having voted for someone who made a promise to change things for the better, and two years in, they have put everything they campaigned about on the back burner and only focused on a certain goal that does not meet the needs of the people? Then they say, “we need more time and have to see certain projects go through

."With only a little time left, they started to get some things done that they didn't have the time to do while in office for those four years. On the other side, you have new hopefuls that will get in with the same fire, and we as the community have to make sure we do everything and be more involved to see to it that change has occurred. Could you imagine being unable to meet with your banker after trusting him with your family's money, and the only way you can see them is at a public meeting? Will this not be hurtful or upsetting that they aren't too good to take your money, but you're not good enough for a conversation or an update? Communication is the key to all relations with people. How can a person love and communicate to God whom he has not seen but will not even communicate with his own brother/sister? Is the secretary not relaying the information, and if they aren't, why would they do such a thing? Is it the candidate not reaching out, and if the candidate is not reaching out, then why not? Is a person really too busy to visit with the people of the very city they have sworn an oath to make great and serve? Having a staff of "get nothing done-ers" does no one good. The perfect plan will fail if there is no communication. Just look around, revisit those promises made by the elected officials and ask yourself, have you done this bit, and if they haven't, why should anyone believe anything else they say? Four years is a long time to do nothing, and two years is too long not to have any communications! Can we talk for a minute?
