Franklin Parish: not many people know where it is, and most don't care to know. What makes the small parish so unique and exciting is its people, especially Sheriff Kevin Cobb. Born and raised there, he has always remained loyal to his small town. He's served the parish for 30 years, 10 of those as its Sheriff, and he's dedicated his position and title to making each city in the parish better. This article isn't about his career as just the Sheriff of Winnsboro but about becoming the 77th President of the Louisiana Sheriff's Association. The Louisiana Sheriff's Association is comprised of all the Sheriffs in Louisiana working together to make sure the state is adequately administered, and policies and laws are adequately enforced. Amongst 64 other Sheriffs in Louisiana, Franklin Parish's Sheriff was elected to serve as the organization's leader. He is the first-ever Sheriff from Franklin Parish to hold this position and the 5th from Northeast Louisiana. Sheriff Cobb now leads 64 other Sheriffs and 14,000 deputies. This position isn't something that should be taken lightly, in fact, it's huge. The state of Louisiana plays a huge role in national law, and having a Sheriff from a small town leading an entire state is such an honor. For him, it's an honor as well but to say that someone so selfless and fair gets to uphold this position makes citizens of Franklin Parish proud to be from the area. Sheriff Cobbs inspires many, including those who work with him, and his impact on the area is immeasurable. People from Winnsboro and surrounding areas even came out in the morning to show support for Cobbs during his inauguration three weeks ago. The many smiling faces prove how the area feels about him and the work he does. There's no doubt Sheriff Cobb won't represent the state and his parish with the best service and perseverance. History has not only been made in this small parish, but it's the start of a new beginning from the town's Sheriff with a big heart. Congratulations, Sheriff Cobbs!
