Domestic violence is a serious threat for many women. Domestic violence - also called intimate partner violence - occurs between people in an intimate relationship. Domestic violence can take many forms, including emotional, sexual, and physical abuse and threats of abuse. Abuse by a partner can happen to anyone, but domestic violence is most often directed toward women. Domestic violence can happen in heterosexual and same-sex relationships. According to police reports, police were called to Gulpha Dr. in West Monroe, LA, after calls of shots fired. Police made contact with a suspect on the passenger side of a vehicle who fled on foot to the side of the apartments. Police gained in on the suspect, but he ignored the commands to stop. The suspect, Robert Thomas, was detained and questioned. He revealed that he and his wife were arguing at the apartment building when another suspect approached him and his wife arguing, stating he and the wife were in an entanglement. The male suspect fled, and Thomas chased him and became involved in an altercation when the suspect pulled out a black gun. Thomas fired a shot that missed him. The suspect then fled to some other apartments on Gulpha. Witnesses told police Thomas went to his vehicle and grabbed a gun, chasing the suspect to an apartment on the top floor. The second suspect, Joshua Robinson, was identified and captured where police found a gun in an apartment bathroom. Robinson told police he was not involved in a fight and knew nothing about what was happening. Both suspects were identified as convicted felons and were charged with Aggravated Battery, Possession of a Firearm or Carrying a Concealed Weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies, and Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instruments. There are three sides to every story. This was one side of this story. The Monroe Dispatch welcomes the other or another side of this story.
