Tanglewood Shooting

Another shooting in the area has claimed the life of another one of our young men. This shooting occurred on April 14, 2022. The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a 17-year-old boy was killed in a shooting in the Tanglewood community, just south of Monroe. Officers say that the shooting happened around 3:30 PM when they arrived at the scene. They discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Witnesses described the incident as a drive-by shooting. The victim was transferred to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead because of his injuries. As of press time, the victim has not been identified. Police Seek Motel Suspect - Officers from the Monroe Police Department were summoned to the Super 8 Motel in response to a robbery on Saturday, April 16, 2022 around 1:30 AM. According to MPD, the business was allegedly robbed by suspect Chaddrick Morehead. Morehead allegedly entered the motel armed with a handgun. During the alleged robbery, officers said that Morehead tried to restrain an employee while he stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the employee. Officers said that before Morehead left, he fired a shot inside the lobby area. No one was injured, officers say. Officers are actively searching for Morehead, as he is wanted for Armed Robbery, Aggravated Kidnapping, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. MPD also said that Morehead is currently on probation from a robbery charge where he received a five-year suspended sentence.
