Body Found, Answers Sought

Warren Douglas Swan

A Monroe family is in mourning, as the body of their loved one was discovered behind a local motel Monday morning, February 28, 2022. Monroe Police say the body of 53-year-old Warren Douglas Swan was found about 9:00 AM by a passerby who alerted MPD to where Swan's body was found. Family members said that MPD contacted them at about 11:00 AM that Swan's body was found. The area where the body was found is close to where an automobile dealership is located. As of press time, family members told the Monroe Dispatch that MPD is investigating the incident, but preliminary findings suggest that no foul play was involved. Family members said they were told that there appeared to be no trauma to the body, but more won't be known until the results of an autopsy are known. Family members said that MPD had initially looked at some camera footage at Motel 6 that appeared to show Swan being dropped off at the motel. They said that Swan was taken to the motel by another relative because he had some issues with his apartment in West Monroe. What happened after that is a mystery to both MPD and Swan's family. The Monroe Dispatch was told that before Swan arrived at the motel, he got some food from a restaurant, which was found in the room where he was staying. The family is hoping that answers will come, letting them know what happened between the time Swan arrived at the motel and when his body was found. They said that all they can do is wait to hear from Monroe Police and the results of the autopsy, which won't be known for a couple of weeks. As of now, Swan's family is grieving over their loss. They said that he was a well-liked person, as everyone knew the 53-year-old. One of the things that his family said he loved doing was playing dominoes at the American Legion Hall on Powell Ave. He will be missed by so many, as the news of his death was widely circulated. A family hour for Swan will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Winnsboro Road, Friday, March 4, 2022, 3:00 - 5:00 PM. Services will be at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church on Hwy 165 bypass in Monroe, LA, Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 2:00 PM. He will be interned at the Veteran Cemetery in Rayville, LA, on Monday, March 7, 2022. The family hopes answers of what happened to Swan will come soon so that they can bring closure to this traumatic experience as they grieve their loss. Heaven has gained a true Carroll Bulldog and San Francisco 49er's fan. Pray for the Swan family.
