Shootings are happening more frequently in Monroe, LA, just as any community in the US, creating an unusual amount of uncertainty about where residents feel safe, especially in Black communities. Places that we once thought were safe are now terrifying in broad daylight, not to mention the fear they hold after dark. According to police reports, on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, police were summoned to a shooting on Spurgeon Dr. where a dispute got out of hand between two groups that led to gunfire, with a victim losing their life.
