My Weapon is Worship

January 13, 2022

Welcome to 2022! If you are reading this, you are in the number of the most fortunate to make it to a new year. As I prepare for what is to come for this new year, the story of Job comes to mind. Surely Job never expected what would happen in his life. He was recorded in the Bible as one of God's most faithful and humble servants who had a special kinship with God. Despite his favor, Job still faced much adversity permitted by the top man himself. I am talking unexpected and underserved blow after blow. God not only allowed satan to take all his worldly possessions and people he loved, he then afflicted him with physical illness that crippled him and required him to rely on someone else to support and care for him. His support system even failed him for a moment when things got too overwhelming to bear and suggested he turn away from God for the afflictions he was facing. To make matters worse, he cried to God many times but was met with silence for a long time, leaving him to develop his own thoughts.

In the moments when he had every rightful reason to turn away from God, he chose not to succumb to low thoughts about his God and the circumstances he was experiencing.

I am not certain of what is to come in this new year and beyond. Even the most anointed prophets only have a slight insight into what's to come lacking clarity into the entire vision. But God knows all. Be hopeful and optimistic about your new year but do not fear if things do not go according to plan. There will be shaking but remain decisive about the God you serve!

When uncertainty comes, our most dangerous weapon is worship. When we worship, we have no room for doubt. Worship postures us to remember why we believe in God in the first place.

Worship proved Job was a man after God's heart and will do the same for us.

Happy New Year to you all!
