Sister Earnestine D. Hall

A celebration of life for Sister Earnestine D. Hall was held at Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe LA on Thursday September 30, 2021. She was born November 16, 1939 in Simsboro LA to Tobie and Leola Johnson Davis. Earnestine and her sister Alicetene were named after their maternal grandparents Earnest and Alice Johnson. She was baptized at an early age at the Mt. Calm Baptist Church In Simsboro LA at the age of 8.She attended the Bienville Parish Schools and Carroll High School. On June 20, 1964, Earnestine Married Edward Hall, Sr. The remained united till her death. Upon moving to Monroe LA in the early 1970's, they united with Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.J. Stewart in 1976.One of Earnestine's greatest memories shared with her family was when she and her sister sang with a gospel group opening for the Staple Singers when they performed in Mississippi and the Monroe Civic Center. Earnestine was even invited toe join the Staple Singers. Earnestine raised her children to always stand up for themselves, even standing alone. She also taught them to love God and each other. Her favorite songs she loved singing included Order My steps, Jesus Will Work it Out, Only Look at Jesus and Crying Days will Soon be Over. Earnestine was a member of the Women's Sunday School Class #2 and ordained Deaconess with her husband. She departed this life Saturday September 25, 2021. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 57 years Edward Hall Sr., Four children Sandra, Joe W., Bernay (Sherwood) Duncan and Edward Jr. (Ora). She was the baby of all her siblings and the last to transition. Her love for singing in the Greater New Hope Senior Choir where she shared a bond with choir member which will never be broken.
