With no regard for race, creed, color, or ethnic origin, graduating high school students who plan to attend and enroll at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in the fall immediately following their graduation may apply. For students who enroll in Southern University and A & M College, the scholarship value is doubled. The James H. Gray Foundation Scholarship, Inc. is funded by Patterson & Associates of Monroe, LLC.

Starting her 2nd year at Southern University and A & M College in Baton Rouge, Victoria Rencher has continued her high academic achievement as a Mechanical Engineering student maintaining a 3.98 grade point average. She was pinned as a Southern University Honors College member and received a highly competitive summer job assignment at Sandia National Laboratories. Victoria is a proud James H. Gray scholarship recipient.

Amari Carter

As a recent high school graduate from Richwood High School, Calvin "CJ" Henderson, Jr. will attend Texas Southern University (TSU) in Houston, TX. His goal is to pursue a Marketing degree, with sights set on obtaining a Master's Degree in Business Administration. CJ graduated with a 3.3 grade point average, is the 2021 Louisiana State 3A High Jump Champion, and received a full athletic scholarship from TSU. He is the son of Calvin and Pam Henderson, Sr. of Monroe, LA.

Amari Carter is continuing the family tradition of becoming a Grambling State University Tiger. His parents, James and Rochanda Carter, grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, and more all graduated from GSU. Amari is a May 2021 graduate of Porter High School in Porter, TX. He intends to get an undergraduate degree in psychology before pursuing his ultimate goal of going after an advanced degree in counseling. Amari will participate in the world-renowned Grambling State University Choir while studying at GSU.
